Ms. Emily Thompson
Fuel poverty and climate change director, Groundwork trust
Emily works across the Northern Groundwork Trusts to support the development of the Green Doctor service, ensuring that our energy advice is able to help those people most in need. During her time managing the Yorkshire service delivery she has grown it its heart in Leeds and Manchester to working across the North of England. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, in 2020/21 the team provided advice to 5,894 households across the north and provided £169,927 in emergency top ups and saved households £210,715 through advice, switching and accessing grants. As well as meeting the needs of the fuel-poor, Emily has also diversified the team who now also provide more technical home assessments, including retrofit assessment and coordination to enable housing associations and local authorities to meet the challenges of de-carbonising the housing stock. With delivery in the Midlands as well as Yorkshire the team are spreading their expertise to meet demand.
