Retrofit Action Week (RAW) West Midlands 2024
Birmingham and the West Midlands domestic property energy efficiency industry will get a major boost with the launch of this region's first Retrofit Action Week (RAW) from 11-19 May 2024.
Campaign organisers Low Carbon Homes created RAW to galvanise local action around the urgent need for home upgrades to create better homes for residents, while helping local and combined authorities meet ambitious targets for energy use reduction.
292,000 homes need to be upgraded with retrofitted energy efficiency improvements by 2040 to hit the WMCA carbon neutral target, and the RAW campaign week will focus on scaling up retrofit across Birmingham - seventeen years of retrofit delivery ahead of us requires an urgent, unwavering and collaborative long sprint to 2040.
Focused on scaling up retrofit delivery at-speed, Retrofit Action Week for the West Midlands provides opportunities for local organisations and individuals to come together, learn and be inspired by activities and events organised across the region by a wide-range of contributors, including community and climate action groups, industry organisations and professionals in the retrofit industry.
Organisations will be invited to stage their own retrofit-related activity during the week and be listed as one of the many contributors who will be planning contractor training sessions, hands-on DIY workshops and retrofit project site visits.
Individuals with a personal or professional interest in playing their part can participate in a range of activities which will be curated by Low Carbon Homes. The week features Low Carbon Homes flagship events the Birmingham Retrofit Summit, online 13-15 May 2024, and culminates in The Home Upgrade Show in-person in central Birmingham, Thurs 16 & Fri 17 May - bringing industry professionals, suppliers and service providers together with property owners – across all tenures - to create an unmissable gathering of those across Birmingham and the West Midlands ready and willing to play their part in decarbonising and improving local homes.
