Barny is a leader in sustainability strategy and energy, running WSP's Sustainable Places, Energy and Waste team. He has worked for over 15 years, focusing on thought leadership, de-carbonisation and policy. He has worked in the residential sector looking at the existing stock and on new build projects. His work is normally at the city-scale or working on advising on strategy for investor and developer clients, or government. He has a good understanding of technologies, research, policies and data in the housing sector which guides the advice. A thought leader in the sector, Barny has led papers on all-electric cities, energy storage, carbon emission accounting techniques, and recently led WSP's Productive Places paper considering how planning and design can contribute to improving our productivity and quality of life. He speaks and writes regularly for publications in the sustainability and energy sector in the UK.
