Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
Ian Rippin is the CEO of MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) which creates and maintains standards that allow for the certification of low carbon products and installations used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources.
Ian started his career with British Telecom as a graduate IT project manager, culminating in responsibility for BT’s operations in India. Previous roles included Managing Director of CSA Group UK (SIRA), an EU-Notified Body for ATEX product approvals serving the oil and gas sector and Managing Director of the Environment Agency’s National Laboratory Service, operating a network of UK analytical laboratories for the testing and analysis of environmental samples.
Ian has a wealth of experience in leading and transforming technical and professional service organisations with an impressive track record of leadership in the certification sector. His success has been achieved in delivering real and effective change to the sectors that he has worked in – through fostering industry-wide collaborations and in assembling high performing teams.
Ian recently moved MCS operations out of London to the North West.
